The Cardiac Technology Centre
(CTC) is a leading
centrein the study of heart function, damage and
repair. Heart failure, mostly resulting from heart attack, is the
leading cause of hospital admissions in people over 60 years of age and
has a large impact on quality of life, as well as productivity and
healthcare costs. By investigating basic mechanisms through to cell
therapy and clinical device development to monitor and treat heart
disease, CTC aims to contribute to improvements in its management.
Registered Research Agency (RRA). The CTC broke new ground as
the first RNSH campus group granted RRA status by the Federal
Government’s AusIndustry. This recognised CTC’s skills in
internationally competitive R&D, its expertise in research management
and its capability in performing commercial research contracts that
provide premium tax benefits to industry (AusIndustry Registration No. 37944).
The CTC
joined the Kolling Institute in 2004. For
further information about research projects or post-graduate study at
CTC, contact Professor Stephen
Hunyor, CTC Director. For
